🇺🇦Ukrainian Citizenship Screener

Question 1 of 3

Was any ancestor born in, or permanently residing in, Ukraine before August 24, 1991?

August 24, 1991 is Ukrainian Independence Day, the date Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union. Ukrainian citizenship by descent is available through a direct-line relative (parent, grandparent, great-grandparent) who was a permanent resident of Ukrainian territory before that date, regardless of what Soviet-era passport they held. Residents of Crimea and the Donbas region before 1991 are also included on the basis of territorial principle.
